LED Wall Washer Lights

LED Wall Washer Lights — Direct from Our Zhongshan Factory

Beaulighting has been manufacturing LED wall washers in Zhongshan, Guangdong since 2010. Our current wall washer range covers 68 catalogue models from 1W accent units to 72W high-output façade units, in DC24V and AC220V versions, with IP65 and IP67 sealing, and single-colour, RGB, RGBW and DMX512 control. We supply lighting contractors, façade specialists, hotel groups and wholesale distributors, and we build to your specification rather than pushing a fixed catalogue.

Every wall washer on this page is produced in our own workshop — aluminium extrusion, CNC machining, powder coating, driver assembly, potting and 48-hour ageing test — which is why we can commit to a 5-year warranty on outdoor fixtures while the market standard in this category is 2–3 years.

What Is an LED Wall Washer?

A wall washer is a linear fixture with an asymmetric or wide beam that throws a continuous curtain of light across a vertical surface. Unlike a floodlight, which concentrates light on a target, a wall washer is designed to produce an even gradient from the base of a wall to the top, without hotspots or a visible scallop pattern. The three variables that decide the result are beam angle, mounting distance and lens arrangement — and getting them wrong is the most common reason façade lighting looks uneven in the first place.

In architectural use, wall washers solve four problems: revealing the texture and material of a façade at night, extending the perceived height of a building, marking entrances and circulation, and creating a background layer that accent lighting can work against. Because the fixture is usually mounted close to the surface (150–600 mm), glare control matters more than raw lumen output.

Popular configurations requested by our project customers: 18W and 24W DC24V in 3000K for hotel façades; 36W–72W AC220V in 4000K for commercial towers; RGBW 4-in-1 for media façades; and 12W 2700K with a visor for heritage buildings where upward light spill must be suppressed.

How to Choose the Right LED Wall Washer

1. Start from mounting distance, not wattage

Measure the horizontal distance from the mounting line to the wall. For a 3–5 m tall façade with the fixture 300 mm from the surface, an 18W unit with a 30°–45° asymmetric lens gives an even wash; push the same fixture out to 1 m and you get a scalloped, uneven result. As a working rule: the further the fixture sits from the wall, the narrower the beam and the higher the output need to be.

2. Match power to façade height

For a wash that reaches the top of the wall, budget roughly 0.8–1.2W per linear metre of fixture per metre of height in a dark environment, and 2–3× that where ambient light is high (city centres, retail streets). This is why a 3-storey villa wall works with 12–18W per unit, while a 20-storey tower needs 54–72W units spaced closer together.

3. Choose the beam deliberately

Narrow (10°–20°): strong punch over long distances, sharper shadow definition — good for tall towers and for creating contrast on textured stone. Medium (25°–45°): the default for most façade washes, forgiving on mounting tolerance. Wide (60°+): soft even coverage at close range, good for low walls, planters and soffits.

4. Colour temperature decides the mood

2700K reads as warm and heritage-appropriate on stone, brick and timber. 3000K is the safe default for hotels and residential. 4000K is neutral and preferred on glass, steel and concrete and for commercial and office façades. 5000K–6500K is used where a cool, technical look is wanted, but it flattens texture and shows dirt, so we rarely recommend it on stone. All of these are available as standard on the same housing, with 3-step MacAdam binning to keep adjacent fixtures consistent.

5. Decide control before ordering

Single colour is the cheapest and most reliable. RGB and RGBW cost more but allow scene changes and event lighting. DMX512 with a master controller is the choice for media façades and anything that needs synchronised animation. Our driver compartment is designed so that a single-colour unit and a DMX unit share the same housing — which means a project can start single colour and be upgraded later without changing brackets or cut-outs.

IP65 vs IP67 — Which Do You Actually Need?

IP65 means dust-tight and protected against water jets. IP67 means dust-tight and protected against temporary immersion. For a wall washer mounted under a cornice or soffit, IP65 is sufficient and is what we supply by default. For fixtures at ground level in planters, on waterfronts, or on surfaces that pool water, specify IP67 — the cost difference is small and the failure mode (water ingress into the driver cavity) is expensive to fix later. Both ratings on our fixtures are achieved with a silicone gasket plus a potted driver, not by relying on the lens seal alone.

Control Options: Single Colour, RGB, RGBW and DMX512

Single-colour fixtures are supplied with a constant-current driver built into the housing and accept 24V DC or mains input depending on model. RGB units use three channels; RGBW adds a dedicated white channel, which matters because a mixed RGB white looks grey-green on pale façades and cannot be tuned to the 3000K that architects usually want. DMX512 fixtures are addressed individually and driven from a master controller; we provide the addressing sheet and channel map with the shipment so commissioning does not depend on guesswork.

Where Our Wall Washers Are Used

OEM / ODM Customisation

Roughly 60% of what leaves our floor is built to a customer's specification rather than taken from the catalogue. The dimensions we can change without new tooling are: light output and LED count, colour temperature and CRI (80 / 90 / 95), beam angle and lens type, housing colour and finish, cable length and connector type, voltage and driver topology, control protocol, and packaging and labelling. Logo printing, custom labels and retail-ready cartons are available for distributors.

For projects we supply IES photometric files and DIALux support so your lighting designer can verify uniformity before the order is placed — this is the step that most often prevents a costly mismatch between the render and the installed result.

Quality Control and Warranty

Each unit is powered for 48 hours before packing; samples from every batch are checked for lumen maintenance, colour consistency and ingress. We work to CE and RoHS for the EU market and can supply test reports for project submissions. Outdoor fixtures carry a 5-year warranty. Because we machine our own aluminium and assemble our own drivers, a warranty claim is handled by replacing the failed component from stock rather than by re-importing a finished fixture.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a wall washer and a floodlight?

A wall washer uses an asymmetric or wide linear beam to create an even curtain across a vertical surface at close range. A floodlight uses a more concentrated beam to light a target or an area from a distance. Using a floodlight close to a wall produces visible scallops and hotspots; using a wall washer as an area light wastes output upward.

How many watts do I need for a 10-metre-high façade?

As a starting point, 36W–54W per unit with a 15°–25° beam, mounted 300–500 mm from the wall and spaced at 1–1.5 m centres. Ambient light raises this significantly — a façade on a lit retail street may need twice the output of the same façade in a dark residential area. Send us the elevation and we will return a layout.

Can your wall washers be dimmed?

Yes. Single-colour fixtures can be supplied with 0–10V, DALI or TRIAC dimming drivers. DMX512 units dim through the controller. Note that dimming below about 10% can shift the colour temperature slightly on standard drivers; if low-level dimming performance matters, specify a constant-current driver with deep-dimming capability when ordering.

Do you supply samples before a project order?

Yes. We ship single samples for evaluation, and for confirmed projects we can supply one production-representative sample for on-site mock-up. Sample cost is credited against the project order.

What is your lead time?

Standard catalogue models in stock ship in 3–7 days. Custom configurations take 12–18 days depending on the driver and finish. For projects with a fixed handover date, tell us the date at enquiry stage — we schedule custom runs backwards from it rather than quoting a generic lead time.

Can you match an existing fixture on a retrofit?

Usually. Send a photo, the dimensions and any label from the existing fixture. If the bracket pattern and cut-out match one of our housings, we can build to the original colour temperature and beam so the retrofit is visually continuous. Where the housing differs, we will say so up front rather than supply something that almost fits.

Request a Quote or a Lighting Layout

Send us the façade elevation, the mounting line, the surface material and the ambient light condition, and we will return a fixture selection, spacing plan and price — normally within one working day. For catalogue and wholesale enquiries, ask for the current wall washer price list with volume breaks.
